SCRIPT: South Carolina Rural Interdisciplinary Program of Training
Each summer, Lowcountry AHEC hosts 1 of 4 sessions of the South Carolina Rural Interdisciplinary Program of Training (SCRIPT). This course is a 5 week summer practicum for health professions students and offers a unique clinical experience. For more information go to SCRIPT.
ISLP: Interprofessional Service Learning Project
Lowcountry AHEC partners with the Medical University of South Carolina to provide health profession students with collaborative, community-based interprofessional learning experiences designed to increase student knowledge and skills in health promotion/disease prevention. This project, known as ISLP, was designed by MUSC faculty as part of the Creating Collaborative Care Initiative. The program is being implemented in collaboration with the MUSC Junior Doctors of Health Program. For more information about ISLP, visit their website.
SEARCH: Student/Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health
Lowcountry AHEC is partnering with the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association, South Carolina AHEC, South Carolina Office of Rural Health, and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control Office of Primary Care to provide meaningful student experiences in community-based primary health care settings. The SEARCH program strives to facilitate the development of culturally competent, community-responsive health professional and promote interest in serving medically underserved and vulnerable populations.
